Dorset Music Forum's Online Platform Brings Opportunities For Local Bands
Dorset Music Forum launches its new website in August. Part of a national industry network, there are many good reasons for bands to register and create their artist profile.
DMF are working with forums over the South West to find the right artists to perform at major industry events, and to be in the running you need to have a profile on the site. Events include Music South West in Bristol this November, SXSW in Austin Texas in March 2011 and Brighton's Great Escape in May 2011.
You also need to be on the site to take part in this year's Dorset Music Awards, which launches this winter. The 2010 winners went on to perform at Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Endorse It festivals alongside winning equipment.
The platform has also been embraced by organisations including the Association of Independent Venues & Promoters, Music South West and the National Student Music Awards and is currently being piloted by venues, promoters and artists who are using the platform as their main websites.
Richard Stannard Director of Dorset Music Forum said,
“There is one key difference between independent artists, promoters and venues, compared to the world's major music companies, is that the major's share resources. Now everyone else can."
Each month DMF will also be selecting a 'Featured Artist' focusing in on success stories, album releases and special concerts. If you are a musician or work in the industry go to www.dorsetmusic.com and create your Industry Profile today.
